Housing That Is Affordable

Build More. Regulate Less. Own Your Future.

In Rhode Island, a system of overregulation and political stagnation has driven housing costs out of control, crushing the working-class family. This isn’t just an inconvenience; it’s a crisis that forces our children and companies to leave the state.

Here is the heartbreaking reality for Rhode Islanders trying to realize the American Dream.

  • You can’t buy a home: For the first time ever, the average working family in Rhode Island cannot afford to buy a home in any town or city in the state.
  • You can’t even rent: The wage you need to afford a basic two-bedroom apartment is higher than what is earned in over 9 out of every 10 new jobs in Rhode Island.

We are not talking about “affordable housing”, we are fighting for HOUSING THAT IS AFFORDABLE to the people who work here.

A Builder's Plan for Homeownership

Victor “Vic” Mellor is a self-made entrepreneur, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a Woonsocket native who built a successful concrete business that created jobs for 30 years. Vic understands that homeownership is the cornerstone of the American Dream and the foundation of strong communities. Vic’s plan is simple and built on common sense. Stop the socialist style of governance that’s destroying the working family and start rebuilding opportunity from the ground up.

About

Putting Rhode Islanders First

Vic will get things done when nobody else can by bringing a builder’s discipline to Washington.

  • First Time Home Buyers – Help new people to achieve the American Dream.
  • Cut the Red Tape: Streamline complex, years-long permitting processes to reduce costs for local builders and instantly speed up the construction of homes for all income levels.
  • Empower Local Trades: Invest in and expand apprenticeships for skilled labor, drawing on Vic’s experience creating jobs in construction, to ensure Rhode Islanders build Rhode Island.
  • Veteran Housing Programs: Prioritize our military veterans with homeownership opportunities and low-interest loans that stimulate the local Rhode Island economy.
  • Stop the Financial Exploitation: Oppose policies that favor big developers, global interests, and corporate speculators who scoop up homes simply to drive up prices.
  • Bring the Money Home: Advocate accountability for the federal funds appropriated for the wasteful Rhode Island Housing policies.

He believes families thrive when they are empowered to own, not forced to rent indefinitely. Rhode Island’s working-class families deserve better. Vic’s no-apologies approach is clear. Build more, regulate less, own your future. Vic’s plan is simple and built on common sense.
