Latino Public Radio Features a Statement by Vic Mellor
“Our country is at a crossroads. January 6th did not happen in a vacuum. It was the culmination of years of corruption, deception, and contempt for the American people by those in power. While political leaders and the corporate media demand silence, I refuse to obey. We are told to remember what happened that day, but never why. That omission is deliberate. The American people were lied to. Trust in our institutions was shattered. Government officials, federal agencies, and their media partners repeatedly dismissed legitimate concerns, suppressed dissent, and weaponized their authority against citizens who dared to question them. That is not democracy, That is coercion.
What followed was not justice, but a coordinated cover up.
At both the state and federal levels, corruption was protected while accountability was obscured. The Justice Department conducted selective prosecutions, ignored due process, and criminalized political dissent. Americans witnessed the suspension of constitutional rights, the fabrication of narratives, and the replacement of trust with punishment.
Meanwhile, the important questions remain unanswered.
Recent events, including lawsuits and exonerations in several states, demonstrate that persistent Americans were right to demand transparency. These results did not come from the political establishment; they came from citizens who refused to give in to intimidation or lies.
As a marine, I swore allegiance to the Constitution, not to a party, politicians, or bureaucrats. That oath doesn’t expire when it becomes inconvenient.
January 6th must be remembered honestly. Not as a tool for political persecution, but as a warning of what happens when the government abandons accountability and treats the people as the enemy.
The way forward requires courage, not submission.
Transparency, equality before the law, and fidelity to the Constitution are not extremist positions. They are the foundation of the American Republic. If we are to remain one around. Now is the time for us, as Americans, to unite around the truth, so that this never happens again.
I will not remain silent.
I will not back down.
And I will not stop demanding accountability.”
